So you’ve been collecting sweaters for some fantastic idea you’ve got in your head. Excellent! But how are you going to do it.
First, wash all sweaters in warm water, with at least one pair of jeans so that the jeans bang around in the washer and force compaction of the sweaters. Dry by hanging or dry in the dryer, if its winter, the drier does the trick, if its summer, nothing like the wind to do it right!
These are photos of a wool coat that I harvested from the local transfer station. Very important to wash, dry and organize into storage containers.
Getting back to recycled sweaters into a new project, here is an example that one woman has done from Smithers, she took reused wool socks apart and made them into a quilt. Isn’t it awesome?
